Looking for luxurious? Peaceful? Chic? We’ve got just the place – the Domes Noruz Chania, Autograph Collection. Brand spanking new for this year, the people who brought you the Domes of Elounda have excelled once more to open the adults only Domes Noruz Chania. Situated on Crete’s northern coast, on the outskirts of Chania, this hotel is everything that is great about Greece –location on a stunning beach, fine cuisine, and top-notch service.
Here are our top 5 things we love about this gorgeous new property.
1 – The rooms are dreamy
Rooms here are contemporary, classy and very cool. They have plunge pools as standard and have a very Greek colour scheme of blue and white. The standard rooms are anything but – they come complete with a bathtub on the outdoor terrace and a heated plunge pool. If you really want to treat yourself, go for the ‘Absolute Haven’. Expanding over two floors, these rooms are the cream of the crop with a private swimming pool, gorgeous outdoor terrace and sensational views out to sea. We just love the sea-facing bed – waking up has never looked so good.
2 – The rooftop bar does a nice line in oysters and champagne
The Raw Bar is one of our favourite spots at the Domes Noruz. Set on the top floor of the hotel, this bar is a super-cool and relaxing evening hangout, and a great place to watch the sun set over Chania. Sushi lovers will be in their element, with all sorts of delicious dishes on the menu. Their speciality, though, are fresh oysters and mussels (best enjoyed with a side order of champagne, we reckon). Resident mixologist George is on hand to shake and stir any cocktail requests. If cocktails aren’t your thing, they also have a wonderful fine wine list.
3 – It’s in pole position to enjoy the best of Chania
Not only does Domes Noruz have a beachfront address, on a private stretch of golden sand, but it’s also just a short 10-15 minutes from the city of Chania. A visit to its old town is a must – it’s one of the prettiest in the Greek Islands and is home to elegant townhouses, charming restaurants and vibrant bars.
Domes Noruz’s prime position means it enjoys the best of both worlds – it’s a quiet beachside retreat, which also gives you easy access to a livelier side of Crete.
4 – The spa is a seriously calming space
The smart Soma spa offers up some great relaxing spaces, from their treatment rooms to the serene indoor swimming pool. Treatment-wise, it’s all about keeping it natural, using organic herbs from the islands. Don’t leave without trying the Garden of England Rose Restore Relaxing Massage – rose, camelina and poppy-seed oils leave you moisturised to the max.
If you need a little detox from a night of cocktails at the Raw Bar, a glass or two from the juice bar will have you feeling revitalised in no time.
5 – There’s a great pool scene
Domes Noruz is home to two swimming pools. Find your reading spot around the quiet zone pool; located nearer the hotel walls, this is the place for peaceful paddling (and maybe an afternoon snooze on the comfy loungers). For something a bit more upbeat, head for the lively sea-view pool, where Crete meets Ibiza in ambiance. Think a resident DJ, chill-out music and a bar on hand for cocktails.
